ABOUT PAUL NORMAN WALTERS

Paul Norman Walters was a: Christian, Pastor, Husband, Father, Singer, Sculptor, and Visionary. He could be appropriately described as that quintessential monarchy whose vision enriched the lives of others. Pastor Walters was God centred and one who embarked on a quest to embrace: wisdom, knowledge, and understanding, as he navigated the complex terrain of life, which he did with a great sense of purpose, coupled with humility. He was enormously talented and gifted.  The following highlights pay tribute to his achievements.
As Pastor of Harvest Ministries Pentecostal Celebration, he was indeed an ambassador for Christ; he gave and dedicated himself to the cause of the Kingdom of God focusing primarily on nurturing the congregants through the Word of God, strengthening administrative structures, as well as completion of the Sanctuary. Pastor Walters promoted the holistic development of both the leadership and the followership.
As a Husband: Nothing will speak louder than the testimony of his widow, Leonie, who at the recent anniversary celebration of her 75th birthday described him as “My awesome husband”; this being done after 56 years of marriage. The illustrious couple would have celebrated their last and final 57th anniversary on August 30th 2024
As a Father: his influence, role and guidance were unquestionable, substantial, meaningful, and additionally, served as a catalyst in the successes and achievements of his children.
As a Sculptor: He was the first Jamaican Sculptor to win First Place at the Canadian National Exhibition (Wood Carving Competition) in the late 1970’s. To God be the glory, great thing He has done.
Pastor Walters wasn’t rich with earthly possessions but was very wealthy in the currency of: knowledge, wisdom and understanding which he shared freely.  His beloved cousin, Bishop Noel Jones, has described him as an “incredible human being; one of a kind “.
Pastor Walters came to the end of his sojourn here on earth on September 13, 2024. Thanks must be given to God for what was accomplished for the Kingdom of God through his life.

PENTECOSTAL TABERNACLE'S TRIBUTE

Tribute to Pastor Paul Norman Walters -

It is with profound respect, deep admiration, and heartfelt sorrow that Pentecostal Tabernacle (Pentab) remembers the life of Paul Norman Walters—a man of God, a servant of Christ, and an extraordinary pillar in both the church and the broader community. Pastor Walters was not just a member of Pentecostal Tabernacle for most of his life; he was a true embodiment of what it means to live a life of faith, purpose, and service.

Pastor Walters gave his life to the Lord in 1969, marking the beginning of a lifelong journey of faithfulness and dedication to God’s work. His unwavering commitment to Christ and His mission was soon recognized, and he was granted a Ministerial License by the United Pentecostal Church of Jamaica (UPCJ). He served the organization in various capacities, lending his gifts and talents to advance the cause of Christ. At the time of his passing, he was still actively ministering as a Pastor and an Evangelist, traveling across the island and beyond, bringing the message of salvation to many.

From his early days at Pentab, Paul Walters stood out as a devoted Christian, serving the congregation with humility, grace, and a heart for ministry. He was a man of immense talent, from his powerful vocals that lifted spirits in worship to his unique ability to preach and educate the congregation on God's creative wonders. His messages were not just sermons but lessons of divine understanding, especially as he spoke of God’s creative powers in both the universe and the human body. His ability to inspire through word and song made him a cherished figure in our community. Whether in song or sermon, his passion was undeniable and often moved many to the altar, transforming lives and renewing hearts.

Paul Walters was always ready to support his Pastor and cousin, Pastor Winston Samuel Stewart. His willingness to lend his talents and help in any capacity was a hallmark of his character. He answered the call of God on his life when he departed from Pentab to shepherd the flock at Harvest Ministries Pentecostal Celebration, where he continued to serve with fervent dedication. His deep love for souls was evident in his evangelistic efforts, often taking the gospel beyond the walls of the church and into the highways and byways, reaching those who needed to hear the message of Christ's love.

Pastor Walters was immensely rich in the currency of wisdom, knowledge, and understanding. He shared these treasures generously, impacting the lives of many. He carried himself with a humility that belied his tremendous talents and accomplishments, always centering his life on God and service to others. His love for God and people fueled his ministry, and his influence stretched far beyond the confines of the pulpit. Through his evangelistic efforts, he became a well-known figure throughout the UPCJ, ministering across churches with a powerful voice and a message that always pointed back to the cross.

As we mourn his passing, we also celebrate the legacy he leaves behind—a legacy of faith, compassion, and unwavering dedication to the Kingdom of God. His broad smile, infectious laughter, powerful vocals, and dynamic preaching will be forever etched in our memories. Whether he was singing songs like “The Rose that blooms for me”, “It is Real" or "Sheltered in the Arms of God," or delivering stirring messages, his presence was unmistakable and unforgettable.

Pastor Paul Walters has fought the good fight, finished the race, and kept the faith. His life serves as a testament to the grace of God and the power of a life lived in His service. We at Pentecostal Tabernacle, and the wider United Pentecostal Church of Jamaica, extend our deepest condolences to Sister Leonie Walters, Paula, Nathan, the grandchildren and the entire Walters family. May God’s peace and comfort surround you during this time of grief, and may you find strength in knowing that Pastor Walters is now in the arms of the Lord.

We will miss him, but we are grateful for the lasting impact he made on all our lives.

Pastor and Sister Leroy Laing, Board members and members of Pentecostal Tabernacle extend deep condolences to his wife, Leonie, his children and grand-children,and other family members.  Please be assured of our continued prayerful support.
