Thanksgiving Service For The Life of Reverend Milton D. Kelly
Sister Petlyn Whyte (Aunt Pet) was born in the Parish of Trelawny; growing up with her six siblings and her parents in the district of Spicy Hill. The family relocated to Kingston in the 1960s where Petlyn continued her education and found employment at one of the early data processing companies in Jamaica. Her exemplary life made a positive impact on her co-workers, some of whom chose to become Christians as a result of her influence. She was also later employed by Pentecostal Tabernacle where she worked up to retirement.
It was in her youth, while residing in Spicy Hill, that Sister Petlyn was converted to Christianity, having received the New Birth experience of baptism in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and the infilling of the Holy Ghost. She later received membership at Pentecostal Tabernacle when the family relocated to Kingston. She was a very dedicated member of the assembly and participated in various areas of ministry.
Sister Petlyn was a kind, caring, and friendly person who was well loved. She did not only mentor others but also mothered some of her nieces and nephews who resided with her for various periods during their formative years. She was an encourager and was known to seek out those in need and to personally provide support, or, to assist them in seeking the support that she could not herself provide.
Petlyn Whyte is one whose living has certainly not been in vain. She has left behind a great legacy of good memories and kind deeds.
